Span.Blog ("we," "us," or "our") is a digital publication operated by Span Blog LLC, a Florida limited liability company. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit span.blog, subscribe to our newsletter, or otherwise interact with our publication. By subscribing to or using Span.Blog, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Email address when you subscribe to the newsletter
- Name if you choose to provide it
- Your product preferences (which of Span Insight, Span AI, or Span Pro you elect to receive)
- Payment information if you purchase a paid subscription or support plan (processed by our payment processor, Stripe; we do not store your payment card details)
- Communications you send us directly (e.g., replies to newsletter emails, feedback)
Information collected automatically: when you visit span.blog or open our emails, limited technical information may be collected by our infrastructure providers, including IP address, browser/device type, pages viewed, email opens and link clicks, and referring URLs. We use this in aggregate to understand readership and improve the publication. We do not use it to build individual behavioral profiles for advertising.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Deliver the Span.Blog newsletters you subscribed to
- Process paid subscriptions or support plans and manage your account
- Respond to your inquiries or feedback
- Understand aggregate readership trends (which topics resonate, open rates)
- Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations
We do not use your information to send unsolicited marketing for third-party products or services.
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personally identifiable information. We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: we use infrastructure providers to operate the publication: Cloudflare (website hosting and delivery), our email-delivery provider (to send newsletters), and Stripe (payment processing, where applicable). Our subscriber list is maintained on our own self-hosted mailing system. These providers access your information only as necessary to perform their service.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable government request.
- Business transfer: in connection with a sale, merger, or transfer of substantially all our assets, subscriber information may be transferred to the acquiring party, provided it agrees to honor this policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as you remain a subscriber. If you unsubscribe, we remove your email address from our active mailing list. Transactional records (e.g., payment history) may be retained as required for tax, accounting, or legal compliance.
5. Your Choices and Rights
- Unsubscribe: use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, at any time.
- Manage preferences: change which products you receive via the preferences link in every email.
- Access or deletion: request access to or deletion of your personal information by emailing akram@span.blog. We respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Residents of states with specific consumer privacy rights (e.g., California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia) may have additional rights under applicable law. Contact akram@span.blog to exercise them.
6. Cookies and Tracking
span.blog is a static website served through Cloudflare. We do not deploy our own advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers. Our infrastructure providers may use essential and aggregate-analytics cookies to operate and measure the service.
7. Email Communications and CAN-SPAM Compliance
We comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and applicable email laws. Every email includes clear sender identification (Span.Blog / Span Blog LLC), a working unsubscribe mechanism, and our physical mailing address. We honor unsubscribe requests promptly, typically within one business day.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Our infrastructure is hosted with Cloudflare and other providers that maintain their own security practices.
9. Children's Privacy
Span.Blog is not directed to individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have, we will delete it promptly.
10. Third-Party Links
Our newsletter and website may link to third-party sites, research, or data sources. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; review their policies before providing information.
